Residency Days ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is an iOS application developed by Catenus. The App is built local-first: it has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server that stores your records. This policy explains the little we do collect and the much we deliberately do not.
Day and jurisdiction records — the dates you mark, the jurisdictions you track, threshold settings, and notes are stored locally on your device, protected by iOS Data Protection (Apple's hardware-backed encryption). We have no access to them. They are never uploaded to us.
Photo library metadata (optional) — if you use the photo import feature, the App reads location and date metadata from photos you select entirely on your device to suggest travel days. Your photos and their metadata never leave your device and are never transmitted to us or anyone else.
Location of your device (optional) — if you turn on automatic tracking, the App uses your device's location, including in the background, to work out which jurisdiction you were in on a given day. Location is resolved to a jurisdiction on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and the feature is off until you enable it and grant permission. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings, and the App keeps working with days you enter yourself.
Evidence kept with a day — when a day comes from a photo, the App stores what justified it alongside the day: the photo's identifier, the moment it was taken, and its coordinates. This is kept so the record still explains itself after you delete the photo. It means the App retains location information on your device rather than reading and discarding it. It is stored with your other records, included in your encrypted backups, and deleted when you delete the day.
Backups — encrypted backup files are created only when you request them and are saved where you choose (e.g. your own iCloud Files). We never receive a copy.
App usage analytics — we use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregate events (app launches and feature usage). Advertising identifier (IDFA) collection is disabled. Analytics never include your day records, jurisdictions, or any location data.
Crash reports — Firebase Crashlytics collects technical crash information (device model, iOS version, event sequence). Crash reports contain no personal records.
Purchase information — subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed by RevenueCat. We receive only your entitlement status (active/inactive). We never see your payment details.

Your records: retained on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall it. Uninstalling the App deletes all local records (unless you exported a backup file — those copies are under your control).
Analytics: retained per Firebase's standard policies (up to 14 months). Crash reports: 90 days.
The App is a day-tracking tool. Day counts are one factor among several in residency and immigration determinations. The App does not determine your residency status and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified tax or legal professional.
Because your records never reach us, access, correction, and deletion happen directly in the App on your device. For questions about analytics or crash data, contact support@catenus.app.
