Homeschool Portfolio Log ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is an iOS application developed by Catenus. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and, given the nature of this App, the privacy of the children whose educational records are managed within it.
Email address — collected only if you choose to enable the optional Cloud Sync feature. Your email is used exclusively to send a one-time magic link for authentication via our sync provider (Supabase). We do not use your email for marketing purposes.
Educational records — when you use the App, you may enter information about children in your care, including: first name, grade level, subjects, lesson logs, attendance records, and related notes. This information is stored locally on your device unless you enable Cloud Sync.
You are never required to use real names. You may use initials, nicknames, or any identifier of your choosing.
App usage analytics — we use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregate information about how the App is used. This includes events such as app launches, screen views, and feature interactions. We have disabled all advertising identifier (IDFA) and vendor identifier (IDFV) collection. No personally identifiable information is linked to analytics data.
Crash reports — we use Firebase Crashlytics to collect technical information when the App crashes, including device model, iOS version, and the sequence of events leading to the crash. Crash reports do not contain personally identifiable information or any educational records.
Purchase information — subscription and purchase transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We receive only confirmation of your entitlement status (active or inactive subscription). We do not have access to your payment method, card number, or full billing details.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Local storage only (default): All educational records are stored locally on your device and protected by iOS Data Protection — Apple's hardware-backed encryption that secures app data when your device is locked. Data does not leave your device unless you explicitly enable Cloud Sync.
Cloud Sync (optional): If you enable the Sync feature and authenticate with your email, your educational records are uploaded to our database hosted on Supabase (US-based servers). Your data is protected by Row Level Security — only your authenticated account can read or write it. You can permanently delete your sync account and all cloud data at any time directly in the App (Settings → Delete Account), or by contacting support@catenus.app.
The App is designed for use by parents and guardians to manage their children's homeschool records. The App is not directed at children, and children do not interact with the App directly.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The educational records entered into the App about children are entered by and controlled by the parent or guardian.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without your consent, please contact us at support@catenus.app and we will delete such information promptly.

Local data: Retained on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App.
Cloud Sync data: Retained until you delete your sync account in the App (Settings → Delete Account), which immediately and permanently removes your cloud-synced records and your account. You may also request deletion by contacting support@catenus.app; we will process such requests within 30 days.
Analytics data: Aggregated analytics data is retained per Firebase's standard retention policies (up to 14 months).
Crash reports: Retained for 90 days per Firebase Crashlytics standard retention.

No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we implement commercially reasonable protections.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
